'To The Bone' Is A Must-See Eating Disorder Dramedy Starring Lily Collins

Try not to stare too long at Lily Collins' skeletal frame.

To The Bone (TBA)

Starring Lily Collins, Keanu Reeves

Directed by Marti Noxon

Veteran TV scribe/producer Marti Noxon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, UnReal) drew on her own teenage battles with anorexia to make this controversial dramedy about a 20-year-old woman (Lily Collins) struggling with eating disorders.

Collins — who herself has experienced a similar health crisis and had lost 10kg for the role  — gives a standout performance, even though the Lifetime-esque after-school special is hard to sit through sometimes (there’s a really uneasy scene where Collins removes her clothing to reveal a scarily near-skeletal frame).

But just because the movie makes you uncomfortable doesn’t mean you shouldn’t watch it. Premiering on Netflix this Friday. (***)
