The Best Part About Brad Pitt's SAG Award Win Happened Backstage With Ex-Wife Jennifer Aniston
The former couple were briefly reunited backstage.
Brad Pitt won Best Supporting Actor for Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood at last night’s (Jan 19) Screen Actors Guild Awards. The best part of his win, however, happened backstage: he was seen reunited with his ex-wife Jennifer Aniston. But not before he brought the house down with a hilarious acceptance speech.
“I’ve gotta add this to my Tinder profile,” cracked Pitt, looking at his SAG tropy. He then poked fun at Tarantino’s legendary foot fetish. “I wanna thank my co-stars, Leo [DiCaprio], Margot Robbie, Margot Robbie’s feet, Margaret Qualley’s feet, Dakota Fanning’s feet,” Pitt continued. “Quentin has separated more women from their shoes than the TSA.”
Pitt also referenced his own marital problems with Angelina Jolie when he joked about how challenging it was to play over-the-hill stunt performer Cliff Booth. “Let’s be honest, it was a difficult part,” Pitt said. “A guy who gets high, takes his shirt off, and doesn’t get on with his wife. It was a big stretch.” Yes, the camera cut to a reaction shot from Aniston, who also attended the show.
But jokes aside, Pitt paid a moving tribute to his fellow thespians. “We know pain, we know loneliness, we know moments of grace, we’ve had moments of wisdom,” he quipped. “We know funny and we bring that to screen and goddamn, I think that’s a worthy endeavour.” Here’s the entire speech.
Pitt’s SAG win has boasted his chances on Oscar night on Feb 9 (or Feb 10, Singapore time). In the past, 20 of the SAG recipients went on to take home the Oscars. He’s already won Best Supporting Actor at the recent Golden Globes. So if you’re betting man, Pitt is a shoo-in. If he does win, what’ll he say in his acceptance speech?
