Sir Sean Connery’s granddaughter says “heaven has gained the most legendary angel” following his passing.

The iconic James Bond actor — who was the first to play 007 on the big screen — has passed away at the age of 90, and his granddaughter Saskia Connery, 24, has taken to Instagram to share an emotional tribute to her “best friend” and “mentor”.

She wrote on her Instagram Story: “A surreal goodbye to my best friend, mentor and dear grandfather. Please respect my families privacy while we process this news. Thank you for all the wishes and we will get back to you all soon. Heaven has gained the most legendary angel today.”

Saskia is the daughter of Stephane, the son of Sean's French painter wife Micheline Roquebrune. A fashion enreprenueur and influencer with over 12,000 Instagram followers, Saskia also shared a picture of her and her grandfather in the ocean, while she placed a kiss on his cheek.

Bond, Family Bond: Saskia Connery has paid tribute to her grandfather, Sean, by sharing some previously unseen pictures of the star after his death at age 90.

The sweet post comes after Sean’s widow, Micheline Roquebrune, opened up about the legendary actor’s passing after it was announced on Saturday (Oct 31) he had died in his sleep in the Bahamas.

Micheline said Sean had been plighted by his dementia diagnosis over the last few months, but he got his "final wish" of "slipping away without any fuss”.

Speaking about his last few months, the painter said: "It was no life for him. He was not able to express himself latterly. At least he died in his sleep and it was just so peaceful. I was with him all the time and he just slipped away. It was what he wanted. He had dementia and it took its toll on him. He got his final wish to slip away without any fuss."

And Micheline — who was Sean's second wife, marrying him in 1975 — paid tribute to Sean, who she called "a model of a man".

She added: "He was gorgeous and we had a wonderful life together. He was a model of a man. It is going to be very hard without him, I know that. But it could not last for ever and he went peacefully."— BANG
