Razzies 2021: Robert Downey Jr, Anne Hathaway, Maggie Q Among Nominees
'365 Days', 'Dolittle', 'Fantasy Island' are among the bad movies in competition.
The awards season is incomplete without the Golden Raspberry Awards (aka the Oscars’ ugly cousin), the irreverent ceremony that honours the worst movies of the year.
Leading the race this year is Robert Downey Jr’s big-budget family fantasy Dolittle and the Polish erotic drama 365 Days, they received the most nominations of six.
Blumhouse horror flick Fantasy Island, the Maggie Q-Lucy Hale-led remake of the 1970s TV series, and Music, the autism drama directed by singer Sia, followed closely with five and four nods, respectively.
Other notable contenders include Anne Hathaway and Katie Holmes, both vying for Worst Actress in not one but two movies — The Last Thing He Wanted and Roald Dahl's The Witches for Hathaway, and Brahms: The Boy II and The Secret: Dare to Dream for Holmes.
But that’s nothing compared to Bruce Willis. The Razzie regular snagged a Worst Supporting Actor nod for Breach, Hard Kill and Survive the Night. Adam Sandler, another Razzie fixture (22 nominations, six wins), is up for Worst Actor for Hubie Halloween.
Meanwhile, Glenn Close — the last person you would associate with the Razzies — is vying for Worst Supporting Actress for Hillbilly Elegy, the same role which earned her a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination on Monday (Mar 15).
Music’s Kate Hudson, who was nominated for Best Actress in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy at last month’s Golden Globes, is in the running for Worst Actress.
The Razzies also awarded a “Special Governors’ Trophy” to the year 2020 as “The Worst Calendar Year EVER.”
The winners of the 41st Razzies will be announced on Oscar Eve (Sat, Apr 24). Razzie Nominations 2021 main picHere’s the full list of nominees:
