Alaina Pinto has a 40-sec cameo in 'Hubie Halloween' — long enough to get her in trouble with management.

Forty seconds. That’s how long TV journalist Alaina Pinto’s cameo is in Adam Sandler-starring Netflix comedy Hubie Halloween.

It’s an innocuously brief appearance but it’s long enough to get Pinto fired from her day job as news anchor for Boston’s WHDH Channel 7. Apparently, Pinto — who started her career at the station in 2016 — had unknowingly violated her contract by appearing in the movie.

In Hubie Halloween, Pinto turned up as Erin, a morning news anchor for the fictional Wake Up Boston TV news segment. She was dressed as Harley Quinn for Halloween. (Cue to 12’ 40” if you can’t be bothered to sit through the movie. You’re welcome.)

Costly cameo: News anchor Alaina Pinto claims she was fired after her appearance in the Netflix movie 'Hubie Halloween'.

A week after the movie’s premiere, Pinto was told to clear her desk. In a statement posted on Twitter and Instagram, she wrote, “Hi Friends! I have some news to share… Earlier this week I was let go from 7 News. I am posting this because I want to be open and honest with all of you.

“Last year, I participated in a cameo in the recently released Netflix movie by Adam Sandler, Hubie Halloween. In doing so, I mistakenly violated my contract with the station and I understand why management unfortunately chose to terminate me. I am deeply disappointed and saddened, and I hoped this would not be how things evolved."

She ended the message on a positive note, though. “Thanks to all my wonderful 7 News viewers and my supportive and great colleagues at the station. Reporting the news to you every morning was an honor and a privilege. I promise to stay in touch and keep you updated on the next chapter — the future is bright.”

Maybe Adam Sandler can cast her in his next movie.

Hubie Halloween — which also stars Julie Bowen, Kevin James, Maya Rudolph and Kenan Thompson — is Singapore’s No. 6 most-watched film on Netflix, as of Saturday (Oct 17).
