Mark Wahlberg Reportedly Spent US$400K To Quarantine In Byron Bay

Mark Wahlberg reportedly spent US$400,000 (S$535,000) on quarantining in a luxury retreat outside of Byron Bay.

On Sunday (Dec 12), the Hollywood star arrived in Sydney on his private jet after completing a two-week quarantine at a luxurious property in Byron Bay for around US$2,500 a night

Mark first arrived in Australia earlier this month and was granted permission to skip the usual hotel quarantine and allowed to self-isolate at the private estate instead.

The spectacular retreat offers 24/7 security to the 49-year-old movie star, according to Daily Mail Australia, which reports that there's also a private ambulance on standby should he need it.

Elsewhere, PageSix reported that even though Mark stayed there for two weeks, he insisted on bringing his own gym equipment with him from the US.

The total cost of the mandatory two-week quarantine period is about US$400,000.

Mark is believed to have travelled Down Under in order to shoot a global ad campaign for online betting agency Ladbrokes. He will fly straight home to the US once filming is done.

Mark is one of several Hollywood stars in Australia at the moment. Zac Efron is currently in Adelaide filming his latest project, Gold, after spending much of the COVID-19 pandemic holed up in Byron Bay.

Melissa McCarthy and Chris Evans are also in Byron Bay filming Nicole Kidman's new Hulu mini-series, Nine Perfect Strangers.

Natalie Portman is currently in Queensland filming Thor: Love and Thunder, while Idris Elba recently arrived in Sydney to film George Miller's Three Thousand Years of Longing. — BANG
