Starring Margot Robbie, Mike Myers, Simon Pegg
Directed by Vaughn Stein
Set in an unidentified Vegas-like metropolis, writer-director Vaughn Stein’s stylish but plodding debut feature is a two tales-for-the-price-of-one thriller. One part concerns two bickering hitmen holed up in a room, waiting to pull off a job for a mysterious client; the other revolves around a terminally ill teacher planning to kill himself.
Bridging the seemingly disparate stories are Mike Myers’ night janitor (under tons of prosthetics) and Margot Robbie’s femme fatale (in various sexy outfits) It’s hard to keep up with what’s happening in both stories and when the dots are connected in the epilogue, you find the whole exercise a little forced and overplotted.
