Arnold Schwarzenegger is running for public office again, the kind where his constituents cast their votes at the cineplexes.

8Days.sg was recently in Seoul where the former Governor of California was promoting Terminator: Dark Fate, the sixth and latest instalment of the sci-fi thriller series started by James Cameron. Joining Schwarzenegger on the campaign trail are his co-stars — Linda Hamilton, Mackenzie Davis, Natalia Reyes, and Gabriel Luna — and director Tim Miller.

The new movie sees Hamilton, back as the iconic Sarah Connor. This time, she  teams up with a soldier from the future (Davis) to protect a young woman (Reyes) who's targeted by a brand new terminator, the Rev-9 (Luna). Arnie plays another T-800 model terminator.

We got to be part of a 15-min round-table interview with Arnie and Linda — whose last high profile Hollywood blockbuster was the 1997 volcano epic Dante’s Peak (yes, it’s been that long) — to talk about their reunion that’s 28 years in the making.

When we first met the two at the Four Season Hotel, it’s evident that they still have chemistry; they’re like two old friends picking up where they left off. If you’re a Terminator fan, it’s hard not to be star-struck.

They say never meet your heroes because they’re sure to disappoint you. In my case, meeting Schwarzenegger isn’t disappointing, just surreal as hell. I grew up watching Arnie — as Conan, Doug Quaid, Ivan Danko, Ben Richards, Dutch Shaefer, the T-800 — kicking ass, breaking bones, and cracking one-liners.

That Schwarzenegger I know is invincible, and hermetically sealed and preserved in cinematic amber. But this Schwarzenegger sitting directly across me is, well, older. Geez, when did he turn 72? Where did the time go? What have I done with my life? Did I spend enough time at the gym? Boy, that went dark quickly. Anyhoo...

As tired as they were (they’d just flown in from London and were bound to Beijing next), Schwarzenegger and Hamilton remained chatty. (Yes, Arnie’s Austrian accent is strangely hypnotic.) Here are some of the interesting things heard during the interview...
