Liam Neeson Says He’d Been Approached For The Naked Gun Reboot

Can Liam Nielsen fill Leslie Nielsen's shoes?

Liam Neeson Says He’d Been Approached For The Naked Gun Reboot

Liam Neeson is going from the modern Charles Bronson to the next… Leslie Nielsen?

The Taken star, who recently announced his retirement from action movies, said he might be doing comedies in the next chapter of his career.

Speaking to People, Neeson, 68, said, “I've been approached by Seth MacFarlane and Paramount Studios to maybe resurrect the Naked Gun films. It’ll either finish my career or bring it in another direction. I honestly don't know.”

Seriously, Neeson in The Naked Gun? Can he fill the shoes of Leslie Nielsen, the master of deadpan, as Lt Frank Drebin?

The original Naked Gun came out in 1988 and made Nielsen, an actor known for dramas, a comedy star at the ripe old age of 62. He went on to make two more sequels and countless parodies that weren’t as inanely inspired as the Naked Gun (hello, Spy Hard, anyone?)

Neeson is no stranger to comedy, having worked with MacFarlane, having worked with him on A Million Ways to Die in the West, Ted 2, Family Guy, and The Orville. Elsewhere, he did a cameo in the TV mockumentary series Life's Too Short where he (as himself) turned to Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant for comedy advice.

That said, we think Liam should give it go. Besides, Liam Neeson shares the same initials as Leslie Nielsen — that's a good sign, right?
