Liam Neeson is ready to hang up his action hero spurs.

The Taken star has a few more projects in the works but then he thinks he needs to take on less physical movies now he's getting older.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, he said: “I’m 68 and a half, 69 this year. There’s a couple more I’m going to do this year — hopefully, COVID allowing us — there’s a couple in the pipeline and, then I think that will probably be it. Well, unless I’m on a Zimmer frame or something."

In Liam’s latest film, The Marksman, the modern Charles Broson plays a former Marine whose peaceful life in Arizona is disrupted when he tries to protect a young boy on the run from a dangerous cartel.

While Liam looks forward to retirement from action movies, he still enjoys making them. “I love doing 'em,” he said. “I love beating up guys half my age.

“I've just finished one in Australia and I had a fight scene with a kid — lovely, sweet actor called Taylor — and halfway through the fight I looked up, I was breathless and it didn't cost him a cent, and I said, “Taylor, what age are you?’ He said, ‘25.’

“I said, ‘That's the age of my eldest son [Micheál Richardson]!’”

Liam has two sons with late wife Natasha Richardson, Micheál, and Daniel, 24.

This isn’t the first time Liam has said he wanted to retire from action movies.

In 2015, he said he would give it a go for “maybe two more years”, adding, “If God spares me and I’m healthy. But after that, I’ll stop [the action], I think. I’m in a very, career-wise, great place. [After] the success of certainly the Taken films, Hollywood seems to see me in a different light. I get sent a few action-oriented scripts, which is great. I’m not knocking it. It’s very flattering. But there is a limit, of course.”
