Jurassic World: Dominion Pushes Back Release To 2022

Jurassic World: Dominion is the latest Hollywood blockbuster to play musical chairs with its release date.

Originally slated to debut in June 2021, Jurassic World: Dominion will now open a year later on June 10, 2022 in the US. (Singapore date unconfirmed at time of writing.)

“For the past three months, I’ve worked with an extraordinary cast and crew on a film we can’t wait to share with the world,” Director Colin Trevorrow tweeted. “Even though we’ll have a wait a bit longer, it will all be worth it. Let’s stay healthy and take care of each other until then.”

Jurassic World: Dominion resumed production in July after it was suspended in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Universal reportedly spent US$5 million (S$6.8 mil) on safety measures to keep the set COVID-19-free. Insiders told Variety that the movie is about three weeks from wrapping.

Over the last few days, the COVID-19 crisis has forced Universal to delay the releases of No Time to Die (from Nov to Apr 2021), and Fast & Furious 9 (from Apr to May 2021). The 25th Bond instalment and the Vin Diesel-led sequel will open here on Apr 1, 2021 and May 27, 2021, respectively.

Warner Bros, too, has majorly reworked its calendar. First, Dune, originally due in the US on Dec 18 (Dec 17 in Singapore), is shifted to Oct 1, 2021, which was originally reserved for The Batman. The Robert Pattinson-starring reboot will now debut on Mar 4, 2022.
