Disney’s Mulan To Open In Singapore Cinemas On Sept 4
It opens one week after 'Tenet'.
After months of delay, Disney’s Mulan is finally going to see the light of day.
According to latest release schedule sent out by Disney this afternoon (Aug 6), Mulan — starring Liu Yifei as a Chinese girl who disguises herself as a man to spare her sickly father from being conscripted — is opening here on Sept 4.
The US$200 million (S$280 mil) epic was supposed to premiere in March. But the COVID-19 crisis pushed it to July, and then August, before it was yanked from Disney’s roster.
On Tuesday, Disney announced Mulan will be released straight to its streaming service Disney+ where it will be offered at a premium price (US$29.99 or S$41) on top of monthly subscription fees. Territories where Disney+ isn’t available will get a theatrical premiere.
Since its debut last November, the streamer has over 60.5 million paying subscribers worldwide. It has been launched in India (in Apr) and Japan (In June), and will roll out in Indonesia on Sept 5. No word on when the service will be operational here. (Just announce it already!)
