Dinosaurs Run Amok Again In 'Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom'

The trailers kinda ruined the surprises in the movie.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (PG13)

Starring Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard

Directed by JA Bayona

If 2015’s Jurassic World is an update of the original Jurassic Park, then Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is a quasi-remake of The Lost World: Jurassic Park.

This not-too-bad follow-up, helmed by JA Bayona (The Impossible), like The Lost World, splits its action into two parts: one is on a dying dinosaur paradise, the other the mainland, specifically, in a Gothic mansion where affable heroes Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard play cat-and-mouse with a nasty new predator, the Indoraptor.

There's a Singaporean in the movie: Sorta. In this scene, Toby Jones plays Eversoll, one of the bad guys auctioning off the dinosaurs to the highest bidder. Look closely. Noticed the Singapore Dollar (SGD) on the display screen? That suggests that there might be a Singaporean in the room. Someone should write a fan-fiction story about that person.

The dino-mayhem still captivates, even if it’s a little familiar. (The Gyrosphere escape is a set-piece waiting to be made into a real 4D theme park ride.) Otherwise, it’s mostly another franchise adventure of mass destruction and (slightly) diminished awe. (***)
