It’s going to be one busy CNY at the cineplexes.

Between Jan 31 and Feb 8, there’s an embarrassingly diverse line-up of movies to choose from. Family fare, serious dramas, action thrillers, rom-coms and Jack Neo — there’s something for everyone. So if you’re planning to skip house visiting or just looking for ways to spend your ang pow money, the cineplex is a good place to start.

Expected to lead the box-office sweepstakes is Alita: Battle Angel, the long-awaited manga adaptation by Robert Rodriguez, with James Cameron producing, followed by Stephen Chow’s showbiz satire New King of Comedy, and Jackie Chan’s period fantasy The Knight of Shadows: Between Yin and Yang. Will there be enough room for Jack Neo's hitman-com Killer Not Stupid to stake a claim?

And if you’re staying home, Velvet Buzzsaw on Netflix is a must-see, a bat-poop crazy horror flick set in the art world, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Rene Russo and Toni Collette.

Here’s a roundup of the CNY movies you can catch.
