Billie Lourd is sending "love and strength" to those who have loved a lost one as she remembered her late mother Carrie Fisher on the fourth anniversary of her death.

The American Horror Story actress remembered the Star Wars legend on Sunday (Dec 27), four years after she tragically passed away following a heart attack. Carrie's mother and Billie's grandmother Debbie Reynolds died the next day as a result of a stroke.

Sharing an old picture of her and her mum, she captioned the sweet photograph: "Sending my love and strength to everyone out there that's missing a loved one they've lost.

"Especially those of you who have lost someone during this crazy year. You're not alone."

Carrie's Star Wars sibling Mark Hamill also took to Instagram to honour her, by posting a screengrab of Star Wars: The Last Jedi end credits that reads "In Loving Memory of our Princess Carrie Fisher" with the caption #AlwaysWith Us".

Back in 2017, Billie admitted the death of her mother and her grandmother Debbie Reynolds, who passed away just a day after Carrie tragically died, “impossible to deal with”.

She said: "Yeah, it's completely surreal. There's no way to really explain it. It’s so hard to talk about. I don't know, if I say that I'm doing good, I'm too happy.

"And if I say that I'm not doing good, then I'm a mess. So it's really hard to know what to say about it because it is just so surreal and impossible to deal with."

At the time of Carrie and Debbie's passing, Billie thanked fans for their support.

She wrote: "Receiving all of your prayers and kind words over the past week has given me strength during a time I thought strength could not exist.

"There are no words to express how much I will miss my Abadaba and my one and only Momby. Your love and support means the world to me. (sic)"— BANG
