It is our duty to inform you that this story contains major spoilers in Avengers: Endgame.
If you have yet to see the movie and prefer your surprises fresh and untainted, then get out here ASAP. (Go read about Andy Hui and Sammi Cheng's marital woes or the queues at Jewel's eateries.) But if you’re okay with spoilers or have no desire to catch the movie, then stick around.
At the time of writing, the 22nd movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe series has already earned US$1.2 billion (S$1.6 bil) globally on a reported US$356 million budget. The movie, directed by Anthony & Joe Russo, is raved by critics as well, scoring a 96 per cent approval rate on Rotten Tomatoes.
But as much as we enjoy the movie, we’re also confused by it, especially the time-travel components involving the Avengers travelling from 2023 (the movie is set five years after the events of Infinity War) to the past to recover the six Infinity Stones.
When the dust settles, we begin to wonder if any of the overlapping timelines and alternate realities make any sense. Or is this all a ploy to get people to watch it over and over and pore over every Easter egg for clues until they start dreaming about time loops and parallel dimensions? (This writer did.)
So final warning, massive spoilers ahead.
