Taiwanese singer Yuan Weiren (or John Yuan) fell into a coma earlier last month (October 17), after suffering from a brain haemorrhage, and has been warded in hospital since then. Although it was reported that his condition has taken a turn for the better after undergoing an operation, he has yet to regain consciousness.
When news of his coma first broke, the singer’s ex-wife, Taiwanese actress Lu Yuan-chi immediately flew to Shanghai, together with the couple’s two children to visit him. Since then, the 48-year-old has returned to Taiwan for work, while the couple’s two children, a 16-year-old son and a 13-year-old daughter remain in Shanghai.
Recently, the siblings returned to Taiwan, where they shared more about their father’s condition.
According to Apple Daily, John’s son revealed that during their last visit to the hospital before they left for Taiwan, their father had responded when they said their goodbyes. It was reported that when they uttered their goodbyes, John’s eyes filled with tears, and his hand had gripped theirs tightly.
Additionally, because of his current condition, John’s body had swelled tremendously, and appeared yellow, making him almost unrecognisable. Yuan-chi shared that when she first visited him in the hospital, she could not recognise John at all, and was taken aback to see his current condition. She shared that she immediately rushed out of the room after laying eyes on him, with a shocked expression on her face.
His children were also unwilling to visit him at first, as they were frightened after seeing Yuan-chi’s expression. However, Yuan-chi managed to convince them to go into the room in the end.
When they returned to the hotel after their first visit, their son started crying, as he was unable to accept the news of his dad’s sickness. While relating this incident, Yuan-chi herself began tearing, as she blamed herself for being too upset at first, igniting the fears of her children.
