Yoga Lin brought his Idol World Tour to the Hong Kong Coliseum on May 24.
Unlike most other concerts, the Taiwanese singer had a few special rules in place so that the audience would have the best experience at his show: firstly, photography was strictly prohibited; secondly, fans were not allowed to use light-emitting devices of any kind, such as light sticks or LED boards. This was to ensure that the audience would be able to be completely immersed in the performances.
The concert kicked off with a very cinematic introduction, as the music of Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto heralded Yoga’s entrance from behind a projection screen. After performing four songs, he addressed the audience for the first time, speaking in Cantonese.
“Hello everyone, I’m Yoga Lin. Welcome to my concert. I want to speak to you in Cantonese. You may have noticed that I used the music of Ryuichi Sakamoto in my concert introduction. Why did I choose the master? Because I want you to be proud of my concert.”
