If Yao Yao could have things her way, she would not have a wedding ceremony when she gets married.
The 28-year-old Taiwanese actress came to this conclusion after attending her friend’s nuptials in Okinawa and realising that organising an entire wedding ceremony seemed to be too difficult to even imagine. “I will probably just register my marriage, but a wedding in Asia usually involves both sides of the family, so we’ll see how it goes!,” she said during a public appearance at an event in Taipei yesterday (Jun 25).
Could this be a hint that Yao Yao is set to take her relationship with her boyfriend, former SpeXial member Riley Wang, to the next level? Laughing, she clarified, “I’ve not even dared to discuss such a topic with him yet! I haven’t even thought that far ahead, and there’s no need to rush.”
With a number of high-profile extramarital affairs happening in showbiz lately, Yao Yao was asked to share her thoughts on these scandals. “I have no right to say much because I was not involved in any of those incidents,” she said. “We can’t control who we fall in love with, but we can control our own actions. It’s not wrong to fall in love, but you shouldn’t hurt anyone, because you don’t know how much damage you can cause to someone else’s feelings.”
In other news, Yao Yao has been nominated for Best Actress at the Taipei Film Awards for her role in A Fool in Love, Love Like a Fool. She called her nomination a huge encouragement for children with special needs (one of the main characters has Down syndrome). “They just need more people to understand them, and if this film can help to bring more attention and respect to them, then I would be very happy.”
