Xu Bin reveals the touching story behind his son's English name

<p>A little less than a year ago, Xu Bin <a href="https://entertainment.toggle.sg/en/whats-buzzing/photos/instabuzz-what-… a dad</a> at the age of 29. The China-born, Singapore-based actor announced news of his son’s birth on social media, where he posted photos of the bundle of joy, albeit with his face partially covered.</p>
<p>Little did we know that it would be one of the fleeting glimpses we would have of baby Ethan’s face (more on how he got his name later), as the protective parents decided to shield their son from the spotlight by keeping him under the radar - well, that was until his first birthday celebration at Xu Bin's talent agency NoonTalk Media's sparkling new office today (July 6). </p>
<p>So when we caught up with Xu Bin after the party, our first question we asked him was &quot;Why now?&quot;</p>
<p>“We wanted to keep a low profile, but we go out as a family too. Ethan is also attending playgroup activities, so we’re out in the public quite a lot,” he explained. “People have been taking photos of us, and I thought that I might as well lift the veil myself rather than to have his photos uploaded by others.”</p>
<p>That isn’t to say that he and <a href="https://entertainment.toggle.sg/en/localbuzz/photos/xu-bin-marries-chin… wife, Evelyn Wang</a>, will be going all-out and starting an Instagram account dedicated to their bub, who turns one on July 10, just yet. Xu Bin mused that while he isn’t against having his son with him in future advertorials, there aren’t any concrete plans for now.<br /></p>
