Earlier this week (Jun 17), Kit took to Weibo and Facebook to rave about her friendship with the actress, saying: “Because of my personality, it’s been difficult finding a close friend in this industry. It takes a long time for me to open up to people, I don't like socialising, I'm shy and introverted, yet I give off the aura of Empress Cixi.... so it makes things really troublesome… Until I met Sheren. It was like an empress meeting another empress, I can’t believe that we act like little girls when we’re together! This trip to Scotland has allowed me to get to know this good friend even better. After hanging out together, I've realised that fate is indeed an inexplicable thing. It really doesn’t matter how long you know someone. Breakthrough in friendships occur in the most unlikely moments. I really like her. Her imperfections are the most beautiful things about her! Imperfections are what makes us unique!”

In response, Sheren reposted Kit's message along with this comment: “From knowing Kit to hanging out with her is like being with myself: so natural, so easygoing, so real, so free, so stress-free, yet, at the same time, filled with so much passion. Liking her is like liking an unseen part of me, totally original and real. So we all have beauty in imperfections, do you realise how fortunate that is?”

While most people would just look at the posts and think, "Wow, who knew Kit Chan is such good pals with Sheren Tang?" But some netizens decided to read into their declarations of love for each other as them coming out as a couple. [Ed: Kit has been single since she and her husband split up in 2017, while Sheren hasn't been in a relationship, at least according to reports, in forever.]

“Are you guys dating?” questioned a fan. “You guys are not allowed to break up! You must be together forever,” congratulated another. While the response from their fans were mostly positive, Kit and Sheren still felt the need to step up and clarify that they’re just friends. 

In a lengthy message posted at midnight yesterday (Jun 20), Sheren wrote: "I’m very curious as to why when two usually very low-profile people happily talk about finding a confidante, and how after spending time together discover even more things to like and admire about one another, end up getting our intentions twisted? Is it ’cos it's strange to see two independent women in showbiz just hit it off? And I believe that apart from a partner, soul mates and best friends are just as precious. Every type of love needs a person to put in attention and effort, because love can make us more balanced and stronger. I know it’s hard to find a good boyfriend and I think everyone is worried for me, but I think everyone who cares for me can rest easy, because Kit and I have God’s love and our lives are very fulfilled. We are not lonely at all. Our acquaintance is really the icing on the cake. Ha, I know I can be very ‘man’, but I still like men!" 

Sheren also posted this photo to accompany her post, saying that these are the expressions she and Kit have upon hearing the lesbian rumours.

Kit then left this comment on Sheren's post: “Of course those who are not sleeping yet are overthinking things. You said it so good. It’s true, life has taught me that friendship is the most precious! All those “people we have loved before”, where are they now? But friends are forever! Even if I meet a person I love in the future, I will use ‘friendship’ as the foundation and centre of the relationship. Friendship rules!”
