Angelababy and Huang Xiaoming became parents on Jan 17 when the actress gave birth to their son in Hongkong. His company, Huang Xiaoming Studio, announced the good news on Weibo: “We want to share with you a happy moment: This morning, Angelababy gave birth to a son naturally, accompanied by Huang Xiaoming and family. The AH couple have a beautiful continuation of love. Henceforth, they are 1 + 1 = 3, which is probably what happiness looks like.”
It’s said that the couple had planned for a Caesarean birth, but Angelababy, whose expected delivery date was around Chinese New Year, went into labour earlier than the expected.
Xiaoming also posted a photo of his son fist bumping him. “Little Sponge is here!” he wrote revealing his son’s nickname. The tot’s moniker (good for, um, soaking up all the love?) is reportedly derived from Xiaoming’s own nickname, Spongecake, which was given to him by Angelababy. According to the actress, Huang Xiaoming and Spongecake sound alike when said in Cantonese.
And now the web is abuzz with, not just congratulatory messages for the first-time parents, but anticipation for how the kid will look. After all, Xiaoming and Angelababy have been the target of plastic surgery rumours for years and many netizens believe that the truth will be revealed when the couple has offspring. Why? Remember that famous Taiwanese plastic surgery clinic ad where a gorgeous couple pose with their aesthetically-challenged kids for a family photo? That’s why.
