Trailer Watch: The ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ Trailer
It’s the first Hollywood movie to feature an all-Asian cast since 2005’s ‘Memoirs of a Geisha’
The trailer for the highly-anticipated rom-com is finally here!
Crazy Rich Asians, based on Kevin Kwan’s 2013 best-selling novel, is about the lives of the wealthy Chinese families in Singapore, as seen through the eyes of Constance Wu’s economics professor whose boyfriend (Henry Golding) — unbeknownst to her — comes from one such super-rich clan.
The movie, directed by Jon M Chu (GI Joe: Retaliation, Now You See Me 2), was filmed in Singapore, Penang, KL and Langkawi. It’s the first Hollywood studio production to feature an all-Asian ensemble since 2005’s Memoirs of a Geisha. And before that, it was 1993’s The Joy Luck Club.
In the two-and-a-half minute trailer, there’s lots of money shots of Marina Bay Sands and CHIMJES. You can also catch our own Tan Kheng Hua, Fiona Xie, Selena Tan, Janice Koh, and a shirtless Pierre Png. Also in the cast are Michelle Yeoh, Awkwafina, Ken Jeong, Ronny Chieng and Gemma Chan.
The movie opens here Aug 22.
