Hong Kong singer-actress Toby Leung celebrated her union with her non-celebrity boyfriend, Jonathan, last Friday (Jun 28) with an intimate ceremony, attended only by the couple’s family and close friends.

In May this year, the 36-year-old revealed that they intended to register their marriage within the year, after dating for two years.

The couple first started off their day by signing their marriage registration certificates in church, witnessed by their family and about 100 guests. They then hosted a wedding dinner later that night to celebrate their union.

Celebrities spotted in attendance included Hong Kong actors Louis Koo and Bobby Au-yeung, as well as Hong Kong actresses Sherming Yiu and Annie Man. Hong Kong actresses Margaret Chung, Janet Chow, and Angela Tong were Toby’s bridesmaids for her big day.

Speaking to the media about her wedding, Toby shared, “As my husband is a non-celebrity, we wanted to have a more low-key wedding ceremony. Our friends and family were very accommodating, and helped to keep it a secret. But, what we feel most sorry about is that we were unable to invite a lot of friends, as our respective families had friends to entertain as well.”

When asked about her decision to only have three bridesmaids, she replied, “I didn’t play favourites. I allowed them to choose for themselves, to see who was free to be with me throughout the day. It’s really regretful that [Hong Kong actress] Charmaine [Sheh] is currently working overseas, so she wasn’t able to be here.”

During the wedding dinner, Jonathan made a sudden confession of love towards Toby, to her surprise.

“I didn’t expect that he would be making a speech. When I heard him promise my parents that he will love me forever and take care of me, I started crying,” she recounted.

As for plans to start a family, Toby shared that the both of them love children, and that she hopes that they can have two kids together.
