In a bid to ink his status as a fashion chameleon, Julian Chen showed up to a recent fashion awards ceremony in China in his own designs that got everyone talking.
Now that's a fashion statement.
Yup, the 47-year-old former Little Tigers member designed that black sheer top, paired with barely-there hot pants that he’d cut even shorter, just before he stepped out on to the red carpet (how very Project Runway of him). To bring the whole look together, the Taiwanese singer-actor-and-apparently-fashion-designer threw on a PVC clear coat. C’mon, you didn’t expect him to work so hard for that bod and those togs and then cover it all up, do you?
He's sheer about it.
Julian shot to fame in 1988 as part of wholesome Taiwanese boyband the Little Tigers. While he had long been living in the shadows of Nicky Wu and Alec Su during the group's heyday in the '90s, the late bloomer has finally found a way to stand out.
His latest daring fashion choices have left Netizens nicknaming him the Asian Lady Gaga. “Are [almost] 50-year-olds only supposed to have beer bellies or wear suits? There is nothing that I won’t wear,” Julian quipped in an interview. He also recently revealed that he abides by a simple fashion rule these days: to be himself, though he admittedly doesn’t know how long he can keep this up for. Not that it matters to his dad, who’s supportive of Julian, no matter what he wears. “You’re truly being yourself when you dare to wear what others wouldn’t,” he’d told his son.
He doesn't just act and sing, okay? He has also found a calling as a runway model.
Getting ready to strut his stuff at Wuhan Fashion Week last month.
