Taiwanese Professor, Who's Said To Look Like Fann Wong, Urges Public Not To Forget About Helping Stray Animals During COVID-19

As you can probably tell from her job (and social media feed), Tanya is a huge animal lover and has kept all sorts of pets, including cats, dogs, tortoises, guinea pigs, and even a pair of Roman geese.

She’s also very passionate about animal welfare issues. In a recent interview, she urged the public not to forget about strays and do their part for animal charities amidst Taiwan’s COVID-19 resurgence.

“Although we’re unable to gather in groups, there cannot be a decrease in donations and care!” she declared.

Before the pandemic, Tanya used to take her students to animal shelters to bathe and groom the dogs there every semester. However, they’re unable to do so now under the nation’s Level 3 COVID restrictions.

“Our furry friends need even more help than ever during this pandemic,” she said, adding that while it’s important to adhere to the guidelines and not gather in groups, those who are able to should help out where they can ‘cos “acts of love cannot be stopped”.

For example, she suggested volunteering to bring strays out for walks and clean their environment, saying, “Maintaining hygiene is also a form of epidemic prevention.”

Another way to help out is by spreading the word about animals looking for forever homes since the Animal Protection Offices are not open to the public during the Level 3 alert.

“In addition to taking care of the shelter animals, the staff have also been running an online adoption community, so they need even more people than ever to share these adoption notices,” said Tanya.
