The 39th Blue Dragon Film Awards was held at Kyung Hee University Grand Peace Palace, Seoul on November 23, and was hosted by actors Kim Hye Soo and Yoo Yeon Seok.

1987: When the Day Comes was one of the biggest winners of the night, scooping up prizes for Best Film, Best Actor (for Kim Yun Seok) and Best Cinematography and Lighting. Han Ji Min won Best Actress for her role in Miss Baek, Kim Hyang Gi won Best Supporting Actress for her role in Along with the God: the Two Worlds and late actor Kim Joo Hyuk won Best Supporting Actor for his role in Believer.

The awards for Best New Actor and Best New Actress went to Nam Joo Hyuk (for The Great Battle) and Kim Da Mi (The Witch: Part 1. The Subversion) respectively.
