It’s official: Star Wars: Episode VIII is now known as Star Wars: The Last Jedi. That’s what Disney is calling the latest chapter in the ‘Skywalker Saga’ (guess they weren’t too keen to use Keeping Up with the Skywalkers…kidding), written and directed by Rian Johnson.
Already, ner...fans in every corner of the galaxy are wondering who the Last Jedi is in the title? Why is the Star Wars logo in red, not yellow? When is the teaser trailer coming out? And will the title look cool on an Uniqlo T-shirt?
The Last Jedi picks up soon after The Force Awakens (see top picture) and will again star Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac and John Boyega as well as series veterans Mark Hamill and the late Carrie Fisher (who completed her scenes before her death on Dec 27).
There'll be new characters played by Benicio Del Toro, Laura Dern and newcomer Kelly Marie Tran. Warwick Davis, who was Wicket the Ewok in Return of the Jedi, is said to be in the movie too. (Old Wicket?)
In other Star Wars-related news, Rogue One, the standalone instalment starring Felicity Jones, recently made US$1 billion worldwide, while Woody Harrelson confirmed that he’ll be playing the mentor to Alden Ehrenreich’s young Han Solo in the latter's origin story. (We can totally see Woody rocking a black vest.)
