Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo, affectionately known as the Song-Song couple, tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in October 2017. The pair’s wedding was the talk of the town, and while it’s believed that they started dating after starring together in 2016 hit drama Descendants of the Sun, the famously tight-lipped A-listers have never confirmed when and how their romance bloomed.
During interviews, they have also refrained from talking at length about their private lives, which is why reporters were pleasantly surprised when Joong Ki opened up about how he has changed after marriage during the press conference for Arthdal Chronicles (previously known as Asadal Chronicles).
“There hasn’t been a drastic change (after I got married), but I feel that my heart is more at ease and I’m more emotionally stable than I was before,” he shared during the conference. “I think all married people would be able to relate with this feeling.”
The 33-year-old said that Hye Kyo is a big fan of Arthdal Chronicles’ director Kim Won Suk (Signal) and scriptwriters Park Sang Yeon and Kim Young Hyun (Six Flying Dragons). He revealed, “She cheered me on and said that I should focus and do my best until the very end since this is my first drama in a long while.”
In addition, Joong Ki also thanked his co-star Jang Dong Gun for the camaraderie that they shared during the filming. “We saw each other every day while preparing for this drama, (and since) we knew each other even before this, he was a big factor in taking some of the burden away. I gained strength just from him being on set,” he said.
Arthdal Chronicles is a historical-fantasy series which stars Song Joong Ki, Jang Dong Gun, Kim Ji Won and Kim Ok Vin, and is billed as the blockbuster drama of the year to watch. The 18-episode series premieres June 1 on tvN.
