Fans of Descendants of the Sun, rejoice.
The leads of the hit K-drama — Song Hye Kyo and Song Joong Ki — are getting married on Oct 31, in a statement released by their agencies today.
“Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo will be holding a wedding ceremony on the final day of October, 2017,” Blossom Entertainment and United Artists Agency said. “A marriage is not only a private matter but also a meeting between two families, so it was a delicate situation in many ways.
“There was no choice but to be cautious prior to marriage, and so we are at last conveying this message. We ask for everyone’s understanding.
“We ask for you to send the couple best wishes for their beautiful future together, and the two actors will be conveying the news to their fans separately. Thank you.”
Rumours were rife that the stars, whose onscreen chemistry was palpable, were already dating during the filming of the drama. However, they’ve repeatedly denied these claims in the past year, even as the popular drama aired and made waves across Asia. Recently, the pair was spotted holidaying in Bali together, as news of them staying together in the same Airbnb were leaked by the lodging’s staff, who reportedly said that Joong Ki kept his face covered with a mask most of the time.
Well, it seems like those rumours were true after all. Congrats to the celeb couple!
