Korean A-listers Rain and Kim Tae Hee are known for being a low-profile couple – in the five years that they dated, they were rarely seen in public together and have refrained from mentioning each other in interviews.
Even after getting married in January 2017, not much has changed as the pair still values their privacy very much, choosing to keep their personal lives out of the spotlight.
Rain was asked about this during his appearance on variety programme Knowing Brothers. Veteran television host Kang Ho Dong mentioned, “The way you act is as though you’re an unmarried man. Even though you’ve tied the knot, you’re not allowed to talk about that person (Kim Tae Hee).”
The singer-actor then admitted that he and his wife have never set restrictions on what they can or cannot say about each other in public. However, he explained that he has chosen to refrain from commenting about his personal life as it can be easily twisted or misinterpreted by those wanting to spread malicious rumours. He then concluded that he hopes to keep his work and private life separate.
Rain and Kim Tae Hee started dating in 2012, and tied the knot in a low-key ceremony in 2017. At the time, they were reported to be the richest South Korean celebrity couple, as their combined real estate value estimated at a staggering KRW 50 billion (approximately worth S$60.6 million).
They welcomed their daughter in 2017, and have succeeded in keeping her out of the spotlight since her birth.
