Do you know who she is? Eagle-eyed netizens sure did when they pinpointed Rui En as the owner of a matte black BMW caught flouting traffic rules in a video. The car was seen moving straight on a right-turn-only lane, then cutting into another lane, almost colliding with an oncoming vehicle.
The incident, which took place on the afternoon of December 23 at the intersection of Orchard Road and Paterson Road, was captured by the in-car camera of the aforementioned vehicle’s owner. He uploaded it onto anti-bad driving Facebook page Beh Chia Lor and the rest is, well, bad publicity.
According to Shin Min Daily News, the 35-year-old actress has apologised for her actions through her manager. She explained that she was on her way to buy Christmas presents for kids that afternoon and while driving, realised she was on the wrong lane and only switched lanes after a driver slowed down to let her filter in. She also added that she didn’t mean to upset anyone. This marks the third time the actress has been caught on camera for her reckless driving. Following her headline-grabbing accident last April, where she was fined $700 after her car knocked over a motorbike, an earlier automobile accident she was involved in also came to light.
While this latest incident has drawn flak from netizens, others have lamented that the actress is being unfairly crucified for what is a common offence. So much for taking a brake from the spotlight. Also, maybe it’s time for Rui En to change her car?
