Memorial set up for fans to pay last respects to Sulli

The death of Korean idol-actress Sulli yesterday (Oct 14) sent shockwaves through the K-pop community, with many fans expressing their sadness at the young star’s sudden passing. Police investigations are still ongoing, but preliminary findings suggest that it was a suicide. Sulli was found in her home, where she is understood to live alone.

The 25-year-old’s family has asked for her funeral proceedings to be carried out privately. Her label, SM Entertainment, shared that the proceedings, including visits from friends and loved ones, along with the carrying of the casket out of the venue, will not be open for media coverage.

However, the label has also set up a separate memorial for fans to pay their last respects to Sulli. The funeral hall at Shinchon Severance Hospital will opened from 4pm to 9pm today (October 15) and 12pm to 9pm tomorrow (October 16).

“We have prepared a place where fans who have cheered Sulli on, and sent her their love and support, can bid farewell to her,” said SM.

Artistes under SM Entertainment have collectively cancelled or postponed their scheduled activities for the rest of the week. Those under different companies have also pushed back their plans to release new music or event appearances in light of Sulli’s passing.

Her former f(x) group mate, Amber Liu, is reported to be returning to South Korea tomorrow to pay her respects to Sulli. The singer is currently based in the United States, where she was slated to release a new song this week. She has also announced that she is pushing back all her work commitments in light of recent events.
