The city of Hongkong is currently grappling with a third wave of COVID-19 infections, which means that F&B businesses there, which have been hit hard ever since the pandemic first broke out, still can’t catch a break.
Even Laurinda Ho, the daughter of late casino mogul Stanley Ho and his third wife Ina Chan, is on tenterhooks about the future of her Taiwanese beef noodle restaurant, Jiu-Wu Beef Noodles. To make matters worse, one of the eatery’s two branches is located in the same building that was recently visited by four known confirmed cases.
On the evening of July 19, Apple Daily paid a visit to the shopping centre, which is located in the Mong Kok district, and reported that there were “almost zero” people out and about. As dining in is prohibited after 6pm in Hongkong, there were no patrons in Laurinda’s restaurant either. Not even those ordering takeaway.
