Called it! Just like we had predicted, Kym Ng was crowned Best Supporting Actress for her heart-wrenching turn as a woman accused of murder in Daybreak at Star Awards 2021 last night (Apr 18).

The 53-year-old actress-host was also up for Best Actress and Best Programme Host, but ultimately lost out to Zoe Tay and Quan Yifeng respectively. But that’s okay (as she tells us later).

In her acceptance speech, Kym thanked all the people she worked with on the legal drama, including her co-star — and newly minted Best ActorQi Yuwu, but in her shock and bewilderment, she left out two very important figures: The director of Daybreak, as well as her husband.

“Honestly, I’m not very happy with my performance tonight. I usually thank [my husband] every year, but this time I was too nervous,” she admitted to 8days.sg in our post-win phone interview, before sheepishly adding that she had yet to respond to her hubby’s text messages congratulating her on her win.
