Chantalle Ng’s omission from the Top 10 Most Popular Female Artistes at last Sunday’s Star Awards 2021 wasn’t the only shock loss of the night.
Felicia Chin, who was just one more trophy away from ascending to All-Time Favourite Artiste status, walked away empty-handed as well, which means she’ll have to wait another year to vie for that coveted — not to mention super hard-to-get — honour.
However, the 36-year-old has been the very definition of a gracious loser, revealing in interviews and an Instagram post after the show that she’s totally fine despite the defeat (even though we completely wouldn’t blame her if all she wanted to do was bawl her heart out).
And it appears there really isn’t much disappointment in Feli, or at least, she’s doing a damn good job at hiding it (then again, we doubt she would have agreed to our interview if she was really feeling down).
When 8days.sg caught up with the actress over the phone this afternoon (Apr 20), two days after the ceremony, she was her usual perky, chirpy, and oh-so-positive sunshiny self, reassuring us several times that she is “actually quite good”.
“I don’t think I lost anything ‘cos it was never mine to begin with,” mused a philosophical Feli. “I’ve always said that winning an award is just like a bonus and not something that I hold on tightly to, so I’m still able to feel joy.”
It certainly helps that she has been receiving tons of encouraging messages from colleagues, friends, family, and fans. “I’m actually very overwhelmed by all the love and, I’m not sure if I should say this, but to be honest, that might be even better than winning! (Laughs) So the way I see it, I gained a lot as well.”
