Jeannie Hsieh defends her status as the “queen of countdown concerts”

The singer slammed rumours that she was ready to retire from the industry.

Taiwanese singer Jeannie Hsieh is one of the most-requested singers for annual year-end countdown parties due to her high-energy stages and colourful props and costumes.

However, fans were caught by surprise on Monday (Nov 25), when a tabloid claimed that Jeannie was ready to hang up her dancing shoes and bid goodbye to the entertainment industry.

To add fuel to the fire, the tabloid also quoted an interview Jeannie had done earlier, where she shared that she is considering to stop performing at countdown concerts as she’s sick of her current songs.

However, Jeannie has since taken to her Instagram to refute the reports, uploading a number of strongly-worded posts.

“‘Lian Bu Kong’, ‘Jie Jie’, are you really sick of these songs? Can it really be called a countdown concert without these songs?”  she questioned in her first post, naming a number of her hit songs.

“Don’t force me to get angry, I still need to maintain my image,” she continued in a second post, adding, “My fans, see you at the countdown concerts in 2020!”

Her posts were well-received by her fans, with many commenting that they are looking forward to the singer’s performances this year.

In her replies to their comments, Jeannie also shared that she will be “doubling up” on her rehearsals for her year-end performances to prove her naysayers wrong.
