With the COVID-19 situation in Taiwan relatively under control, singers such as Jolin Tsai and Rainie Yang have held concerts under strict guidelines and reduced audience capacities. Most of the recent concert tickets come bundled with a free mask as concertgoers are expected to keep their masks on during the show.

Jeannie Hsieh, whose concert is slated for January 16 at the Taipei Arena, had announced weeks before tickets went on sale that she would be giving out concert-exclusive masks to all attendees.

But earlier this week, the organisers suddenly declared that they would be cancelling the mask distribution with a vaguely-worded statement that claimed the move was “in compliance with relevant regulations”.
