Jay Chou reveals his daughter can be “quite stubborn”

Jay Chou may be one of the most powerful and highly regarded people in the Asian entertainment scene, but he joked that at home, his “status” is actually “very low” (especially when it comes to his daughter).

Yesterday (Jul 18), the Mandopop king attended a charity basketball game with Taiwanese singer Patrick Brasca, who is signed to his record company JVR Music. During an interview, he shared that his children, four-year-old daughter Hathaway and two-year-old Jaylen Romeo, have already embarked on football and piano lessons. Their mother, model-actress Hannah Quinlivan, also teaches them English at home.

When asked what his kids are like, the 40-year-old laughingly said that he feels like his daughter is “another girlfriend”. “She can be quite stubborn,” he revealed. “If you ask her not to do something, she will say no; if you try to get along with her, she will say no as well!”

His son, on the other hand, is easier to control. “All I need to do is make a disapproving noise, and he will immediately behave and hang his head in shame,” he said.

That said, Jay clarified that he isn’t usually very fierce or strict, because “it’s of no use” to his kids. “If you want to teach a child a lesson, you have to become like a child yourself and communicate clearly with them,” he explained.
