There are boyfriends who bring their girls out on cute dates and give them flowers, and then there's Jay Chou.
Jay & Hannah
It’s not like Jay isn’t getting enough clout with the impending release of his new song, ‘Won't Cry’, which will debut next Monday (Sep 16).
“I only can say that if you don’t manage to catch the premiere of the song, you’ll cry! It’s like watching a basketball match and someone spoils the results for you. Then you’ll complain that someone didn’t tell you to catch it earlier and I’ll reply, “Well, I already told you so,” wrote Jay on IG, proving once and for all that he is his own best hype man.
The Mandopop king outdid himself by chartering a plane to sky write the message, "Never Surrender" followed by a heart, to Hannah near Circular Quay in Sydney.
"Haha so beautiful, I am such a creative director,"Jay wrote on Instagram, where he also posted a video of what he had orchestrated.
And the best thing is, it wasn't like Jay had done it to celebrate their wedding anniversary or something. It was just a regular day for the couple.
We’re not jealous. You’re jealous.
Around the same time, Hannah also uploaded a pic of her with the skywriting in the background. "Never surrender, don’t give up before you chase your dream," she wrote.
Jay's heart from another angle
Netizens who happened to chance upon the skywriting all thought it was done by someone who wanted to propose. After realising that it was arranged by Jay, they quickly heralded the singer as the world's most romantic guy.
One netizen wrote: "My sister sent me a message, and we thought it was someone using a drone to confess his love. I commented that that person had a lot of money. When we were casually scrolling through Instagram after, we realised that everything was organised by Jay Chou.”
Really spoil market leh.
On a much less ostentatious note, there's Show Luo who has always been pretty private about his relationship with his influencer Grace Chow.
But earlier today (Sep 12), the 40-year-old singer surprised everyone when he posted a pic of him holding hands with his 31-year-old girlfriend of four years.
“I’m uploading your favourite pic of us on this day. Happy Birthday,” he wrote.
In response to her boyfriend's big move, Grace posted this comment: “I liked this picture because [even though you’re wearing sunglasses], your eyes still can’t hide your love, just like how much I love you.”
Within a couple of hours, the post was liked more than 100,000 times, with fans and Show's celeb pals gushing over his romantic gesture.
“Stop saying all of these things. Just get married already!” wrote an ecstatic fan.
One common misconception people have of their relationship is that Show is the one who pays for everything. Grace once told the media that she funds her own air tickets and hotel stays whenever she pops overseas to meet her boyfriend. “It’s not that he doesn't offer to pay for me but this is how my mum brought me up to be. Since young, she has been telling me that besides my parents, no one else is obligated to spend money on me," she explained.
She also admitted to being a hopeless romantic, saying that once she’s in love, she’ll give the relationship her all.
“Whenever I go shopping, I head straight for the men’s section. When I see something nice, I’d immediately think of [Show] and wish to buy everything for him. No matter where I am, no matter how important a job or situation is, as long as [Show] says [he] misses me, I will drop everything and go to [him],” she said.
