How Die-Hard Are These Die-Hard Avengers Fans?

A for effort. And also A for Avengers.

How Die-Hard Are These Die-Hard Avengers Fans?

Forget Beyoncé at Coachella. It’s the Avengers who run the world. 7,000 of Singapore’s mightiest Avengers fans assembled at Marina Bay Sands to meet Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), Karen Gillan (Nebula), as well as director Joe Russo at the Infinity War purple - an homage to the movie's purple-skinned supervillain Thanos - carpet event last night (Apr 16).

Though doors for the event only opened for registration at 7am that morning, fans had already started queuing at MBS at 5.30am. FYI: the shindig started only at 7.30pm. But not all of the fans who were up bright and early that morning got a chance to get up close and personal (well, sorta) with the stars. The last of the 4,000 wristbands which would grant fans access to the outdoor event was given out by noon. But the other 3,000 fans, who, um didn’t wake up early enough, were given a spot in the MBS expo hall where they could watch the event live on screen. Even better? They would also be the first ones to see the superheroes arrive at the event, not in the Quinjet, but their fancy cars.

When 8 DAYS reached MBS at 4.30pm, we spotted many fans dressed up like your favourite Avengers. There was a dude who wore a full Captain America suit (sans bulging muscles) which he spent close to $3,000 on. Sadly, he couldn’t bring his shield into the event area for security reasons. But he had an even better accessory: his pal who was dressed up as Doctor Strange. There was another guy who came as Spider-Man, though no thanks to the balmy weather, looked more like sweaty, man.

There was also one Cumberbabe (P/S What Benedict Cumberbatch’s fans are called) who held up a sign that read: “Benedict! I skipped an entire day of lectures to see you.” We’re not sure how her teachers would feel about that, but hey, there’s no stopping a Cumberbabe from getting her hands on her idol. You know, kinda like Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet.
