The 33-year-old spoke to Hongkong media recently and admitted that he’s doing a lot better career-wise now. “It’s much easier for me to act in dramas now because I can speak English, my native language. I take less time to read through and understand my drama scripts now too.” As a result, Alan has also has also started picking up more substantial roles and is now earning “much more” than what he used to in Hongkong. Although he’s had to make a fresh start, he said that he has “no regrets” and is adapting well to his new life.

Prior to moving to Singapore, Alan had already worked on a number of Mediacorp projects here. He started off with Faculty, and was soon cast in a number of meWATCH (previously known as Toggle) dramas, including the Last Madame. He also launched his own YouTube channel, which he uses to stay in touch with his fans all over the world.

During his time with TVB, the actor was limited to supporting roles as he's not fluent in Cantonese. But he has no complaints about his time there as he’s thankful for all the opportunities he was given. “If it weren’t for TVB, I wouldn’t have been able to get my start in showbiz,” he shared. “I learned a lot there and I’m very grateful to everyone I’ve worked with.”

Alan got his start in showbiz when he joined the Mr Hongkong competition in 2008. He then returned to the US to complete his university education. A year later, he flew back to Hongkong to work full-time at TVB.
