Goo Hara: I’ve been doing well

In late May, South Korean singer Goo Hara, a former member of the girl group KARA, was found unconscious at home following a suicide attempt.

The 28-year-old was subsequently rushed to the hospital, where she remained unconscious for two days in a stable condition. After regaining consciousness on May 28, the singer issued an apology. In the days following her discharge from hospital, it was reported that Hara will be recuperating at her house in Japan, as it is less accessible to the public.

Yesterday (June 17), she uploaded her first Instagram post since her hospitalisation, sharing a number of pictures of her out and about in Japan.

“Hara has been doing well,” read the caption of the first post. In her second post, the singer went on to thank her fans for their support, writing, “I’m (both) sorry and thankful. I’ll work harder to get over this, to show you a better side of me”.

Later, she uploaded another post on Instagram Story, sharing that she will be taking legal action against malicious commenters.

“I will be taking legal action against malicious comments. I will not go easy on these malicious comments,” she wrote.

“Celebrities are not people who gain things (without even trying). More than anything else, we have to manage our private lives well. We suffer too, (and) are unable to share what we’re going through with our family and friends. It’s a difficult pain that cannot be understood. You are free to express yourselves, but can’t you think about what kind of person you will be (before leaving such comments)?” she continued.

It is widely believed that Hara was emotionally affected after her ex-boyfriend, hairstylist Choi Jong Beom blackmailed her with their sex tape. At that time many netizens had criticised Hara despite her being the victim of Jong Beom’s actions.
