More than six months ago, Hong Kong singer-actress Gillian Chung and her doctor beau Michael Lai threw a wedding ceremony in Los Angeles at the luxurious Millennium Biltmore Hotel.
While the L.A. ceremony was attended by close friends and family members, it was revealed that their union was not legally recognised as Gillian and Michael have yet to officially register their marriage.
It was later revealed that they will be holding a second official wedding ceremony in Hong Kong, which they did yesterday at an alfresco restaurant in Tsim Sha Tsui. It will be followed up with a wedding banquet tomorrow (Dec 20).
The venue offered a breathtaking view of Hong Kong’s harbour view and was sheltered by tall green foliage, which kept their ceremony away from prying eyes.
The ceremony, which began at an auspicious time of 4.30pm, was attended by over 30 friends and family members. According to pictures posted of the celebrations, the venue’s décor was kept simple and fuss-free with bouquets of fresh roses in shades of white, champagne and baby pink.
Fellow Twins member Charlene Choi, who will also be her maid-of-honour for the Dec 20 event, shared pictures of the party on Instagram later, including one where she photobombed the newlyweds when they were taking a picture with Hong Kong singer Joey Yung, calling herself as the “the woman behind Gillian”.
The shindig tomorrow night is expected to a star-studded affair which will be attended by fellow celebrities such as Kenny Bee, Irene Wan, Kenny Kwan, Hins Cheung, as well as her bridesmaids Joey and Yumiko Cheng.
Gillian and Michael started dating in September last year and got engaged less than six months after they began dating.
