Feng Shaofeng, Zanilia Zhao welcome first child

Celebrity couple Feng Shaofeng and Zanilia Zhao welcomed their first child into the world last Friday (March 8).

The announcement was made by Shaofeng on his Weibo, when he posted, “Both mother and son are safe. A little man has joined our family today. Together, we will protect our admirable mother”. The actor also shared a picture of the baby’s footprints.

The couple has always tried their best to keep the news of their baby's arrival private. Although it was rumoured that Zanilia was pregnant from as early as August last year, Zanilia has always denied the reports. They only confirmed that they were indeed expecting their first child in January this year.

Similarly, the gender and expected due date of their child was never confirmed by Zanilia nor Shaofeng, though insiders had shared that they will be welcoming a baby boy in March. Zanilia’s pregnancy report was also leaked to the press.

Following Shaofeng’s announcement, fellow celebrities like Angelababy and Li Bingbing left messages of congratulations on the post.

“Congrats, congrats,” Angelababy wrote, while Bingbing commented, “Congratulations Zanilia and Shaofeng, the great dragon has awoken from its slumber (signifying the beginning of spring) to welcome (your) baby, (born in the year of the) golden pig, a complete family of three.”

A day after announcing the birth of his child, Shaofeng was spotted leaving the hospital where the couple had reportedly reserved a VIP delivery suite. Three hours later, he returned, this time with a portable baby bassinet in his arms.

Stopping to address the media gathered outside the hospital, Shaofeng said, “Thank you everyone, do return home soon to get some rest.”

The preparation of the baby bassinet lead to speculations that both mother and son were ready to be discharged from the hospital soon.

Shaofeng and Zanilia announced their marriage in October last year.
