South Korean actor Do Kyung Soo, also known as D.O of K-pop band EXO, attended a press conference to promote his new film Swing Kids with his co-stars in Seoul on November 12.

The film, which is directed by Kang Hyun Cheol (who also directed Scandal Makers and Sunny), tells the story of the members of a dance troop called the Swing Kids, which started in a prison camp in 1951.

D.O plays a rebellious North Korean soldier. To prepare for his role, he shaved his head (which he called "a necessary part" of his character) and learned tap dancing, as well the North Korean dialect. He reported that the tap dancing moves were "completely different" from EXO's usual choreography, and that while it was hard at first, he found it very charming.

As for the North Korean dialect, he found it "unfamiliar" because it's not a dialect one usually listens to. However, after practising with his dialect coach, he is now "comfortable with the language".
