Hong Kong singer-actor Ekin Cheng recently held a series of concerts at the Hong Kong Coliseum from February 24 to 27, as part of his 'Along with Ekin Live Concert 2019’ concert tour.
Yesterday (February 28), it was revealed that he had actually suffered a tear in the ligament in his right hand, as well as a slight displacement in his spine, after a poorly-executed flip. The doctor who treated his injuries also cautioned the 51-year-old against any more strenuous stunts and flips.
According to reports, the singer-actor was very worried that his injuries will negatively affect his concert performance. However, after seeing the support from his fans, he gained the strength to face his injuries.
After getting the doctor to attach a fake ligament to support the injured one in his right hand, Ekin went ahead with his concerts.
“After a year of strict training, I was able to push through even though I’m injured. To top it all off, I was able to successfully do my flips during all three concerts. This is my only consolation, so don’t worry everyone, I will work hard,” Ekin shared.
The singer-actor had put in a lot of effort for his concerts, even heading to Japan to source for a mechanical balloon prop that he saw in a clip while preparing for his concerts.
“I found it very impressive, and said that it’ll be good if we could add that into my concerts. I’m thankful to the staff at my company, for fulfilling my dreams,” he said.
Ekin’s wife, Hong Kong actress Yoyo Mung, was present at every concert, showing her support for her husband. Other celebrity friends like Taiwanese actress Shu Qi, as well as Hong Kong director Andrew Lau and his wife, Hong Kong actress-singer Miriam Yeung and her husband Real Ting and Hong Kong singer Andy Leung were also spotted in attendance.
