You’ve probably seen the name Zheng Shuang splashed all over news sites and social media lately. The 29-year-old Chinese actress became a person of interest, at least in the eyes of netizens, after she was accused by her ex-boyfriend, producer Zhang Heng, of abandoning their two one-year-old kids, who were born via surrogacy, in the US.
Because surrogacy is illegal in China, many netizens saw Zheng Shuang's decision to have kids by engaging surrogate mothers in the US as using a loophole in the law to her benefit.
They have also questioned her morals. According to Zhang Heng, 30, she hasn't been cooperative in helping him bring their kids to China, which is why he's been stuck in the US caring for them for over a year.
Since the scandal blew up on January 18, Zheng Shuang’s reputation has taken a massive hit, with many saying that she can probably kiss her career in China — the government is known to be very unforgiving towards scandal-plagued stars — goodbye.
