Multi-hyphenate Jay Chou announced that they would be starting work on his new movie, Nezha, earlier this year. With Jay as the executive producer, Chen Yi-xian as director, and Jay’s wife Hannah Quinlivan as female lead, there was much buzz about the racing movie.
However, an accident happened on-set on November 16, where a 39-year-old male crew member was reportedly working on a rain scene when he slipped and hit his head. He is said to have been rushed to the hospital while unconscious.
After 13 days in the hospital, reports emerged that the said crew member passed away in the wee hours of the morning, although the cause of death has yet to be ascertained. The movie’s production team is aiding his family members in preparing for the funeral.
Jay issued a statement through his label, saying, “Jay has been very concerned since the accident happened. It’s unfortunate that this happened, and he has asked for the crew to help the family with the funeral, and to let him know if they need anything at all.”
This was the second accident to have happened on-set, as Hannah’s stunt double previously fractured her wrist while filming a car crash scene.
In related news, Jay was recently confirmed to be joining the cast of the fourth installment of the xXx movie franchise, which stars Vin Diesel as Xander Cage.
