Ever since Taiwanese singer Christine Fan angered netizens after slamming the Taiwanese government for temporarily halting the export of masks when the COVID-19 pandemic first broke out in January, the 44-year-old has been laying low online, going on a two-month social media hiatus, and even restricting the comments on her Instagram. She had earlier insulted Taiwanese premier Su Tseng-chang in a private post online, calling him a "gou guan", which translates literally to "dog official", a derogatory term.
